BYOB etiquette at Miami lifestyle clubs?

First time going to a Miami club and I see they're almost all BYOB. What's the deal? Do we bring a full bottle? Does the club provide mixers? Can we bring beer? Seems like a unique setup compared to clubs in other cities.

BYOB is standard at almost every lifestyle club in Florida due to liquor licensing. Here's how it works at Miami Velvet specifically:

  • Bring a sealed bottle of whatever you drink — vodka, tequila, whiskey, wine, whatever. They'll label it with your name and keep it behind the bar.
  • The club provides mixers, ice, cups, and sodas — all included in your cover charge.
  • Beer and seltzers are fine too, bring a 6-pack or 12-pack.
  • Don't bring bottom-shelf stuff if you want to share with other couples. A decent mid-range bottle goes a long way socially.
  • Some couples bring a cooler with pre-made cocktails.

Honestly, BYOB ends up being way cheaper than buying drinks at a regular nightclub. A $30 bottle of vodka lasts us the whole night vs. spending $200 at a bar.

One thing to add — don't overdo it. The biggest mistake newcomers make in Miami clubs is drinking too much because the booze is free-flowing. Pace yourselves. The night is long (most people stay until 3-4am) and you want to actually enjoy the experience. Bring a bottle but also bring water bottles.
